“The opposite of love is not hate.
It’s indifference.”
– Elie Weisel
In the simplest terms love works to turn the neurons on the left into the neurons on the right:
To turn the network on the left into the network on the right:
The most doable, direct way to accomplish that is through Contingent or Collaborative Communication. There are 3 simple steps:
Pay attention to the people, places and things right in front of you right now.
Do your best to understand what they’re communicating to you.
Respond in the most timely and effective manner you can.
That’s it. It’s not brain science; it’s cardiology.
P.S. Many thanks to those of you who made the time to respond to last week’s Open Letter. No matter how you responded, that you made it important enough to respond at all was deeply meaningful to me . . . in a way that would probably also be meaningful to Rumi . . .
